Wallpaper a Love Hate Relationship

When we purchased my home my daughter's bedroom was like a perfectly preserved 1980's time capsule. I swore, after removing the wallpaper from every single surface of my daughter's bedroom including the doors, ceiling fan, and closet shelves, that I would never, ever use wallpaper in my own home. I had decided that it was a monstrosity, a torture device designed to make you lose your mind in sticky pieces of peeled paper. So why, oh why, after ten years do I find wallpaper pulling at my heart strings again. For me it all started when I visited the Omni Mount Washington Resort in New Hampshire and I saw this beautiful vintage pale green and cream block printed wallpaper:

That's when I realized that I had been traumatized into forgetting the power of patterned wallpaper in a space. I love how wallpaper is perfect for dissolving the lines of angled attic bedrooms with wonky ceilings like this space:

To ensure a modern look choose a patterned print such as Scandinavian Blue Block Print Tulip Wallpaper by Beacon House with no more than two colors and wallpaper both the walls and the ceiling to create the illusion that the space is more expansive than it actually is like this:
It's also perfect for bringing personality to vestibules and other small spaces that would otherwise get lost in your home:

Why not use it on a ceiling to add the illusion of height:

Oh wallpaper how I love you! That is until I have to take you down... then you rip... you peel, and you are oh so stubborn. So have I caved to wallpaper? Well yes and no... I have discovered the wonders of peel and stick wallpaper. With designer styles by companies such as Tempaper that feature designers such as the amazing Novogratz duo and Zoe Bios Creative why have your cake and eat it too. Wallpaper that you can love without the... commitment. So I encourage you to give in to your love of wallpaper and add a splash of pattern to your home!
