One Dollar Wreath Makeover
With Spring around the corner I was looking to give my front door a bit of a facelift but my goto wreath just wasn't cutting the winter doldrums. Here it is before my ONE dollar makeover.
The colors in this wreath, which I had been in love with a few seasons ago, were falling flat to my eye this year. My eyes were yearning for something more rich and vibrant to greet me at the door. To be frank I had fallen in love with a new color, as I am apt to do when the seasons change, purple; it is my color of the season. Now a new wreath can be an investment in either time, if you are a DIY'er, or money, and I wasn't looking to spend much of either this go around. Mostly because I had already put plenty of both into the wreath a few seasons ago when I first made this wreath as a DIY project, and I just couldn't rationalize buying or making a whole new wreath to satiate my thirst for the color purple. Especially knowing that next season I might be in love with a whole new color. So I cheated and here is how you can too!
STEP 1.)
I decided to got to the Dollar Tree, which is full of blooms this time of year, and I found a sprig of pansies with eight flower heads on it for $1.00! I brought my find home and excitedly clipped each of the flower heads off to make eight individual flower sprigs, which looked like this:
STEP 2.)
Then I pushed the sprigs into the wreath. I didn't even glue them in place so that I can change them out if/when a new color inspires me. The sprigs stay put because the base of the wreath is made from tightly woven branches which have just enough room between them to wiggle the stem of one of these flowers through the wreath. I didn't worry about finishing off the back because nobody will see it.
STEP 3.)
Enjoy your "New" wreath every time you walk in your home!
